The EF 300mm f/4L IS USM offers portability and image quality. The lens features UD lens elements to improve optical performance and Image Stabilisation technology to reduce blur from camera movement.

High quality, stabilized telephoto lens
The EF 300mm f/4L IS USM is a compact telephoto lens featuring an Image Stabilizer that compensates for camera shake, allowing shutter speeds two stops slower than normal to be used without blur. Stabilization can be turned off in one direction to allow for panning.

L-series quality
The L-series is Canon's flagship professional lens range, representing the best in precision-designed EF optics. L-series lenses combine superior performance with superlative handling, and are resistant to dust and moisture.

Ultrasonic focusing
A ring-type ultrasonic motor drives autofocus extremely quickly, and in near silence. Excellent holding torque ensures the point of focus is reached accurately, without overshooting. Furthermore, full-time manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving AF mode.

Super Spectra coating
Super Spectra coatings ensure accurate colour balance and enhance contrast. They also reduce flare and ghosting – a common problem caused by light bouncing off a camera's sensor.

Integration with E-TTL II flash metering
The lens passes distance information back to a compatible EOS camera's E-TTL II flash system to ensure optimal flash metering.

5 stars superb optics Written by simon james bedford
I shoot woodland deer in low light and bought this lense after usng a 100-400 L for nearly two years. Since using the 300 on my camera bodies (40D, 50D and 1Ds, I have subsequently sold the 100-400 as it has been made redundant .This lense is sharp and fast for an F4 and autofocus is very fast. 21st Feb, 2010
4 stars Best Lens I've Ever Owned..... Written by Graham Morgan

Despite the obvious lack of versatilty when compared to a zoom, (because I was considering getting the 100-400mm zoom at the time) the quality and brightness through the viewfinder shone through with this lens. The majority of my photography is taking wildlife pictures and, coupled with the 1.4x extender bought at the same time - (from the superb Walters Photo Video folk) it is an ideal lens and one that I can keep on my camera (40D) all day.
